Pantone announced the duo of Ultimate Gray 17-5104 and Illuminating 13-0647 as their colors of the year for 2021.
This is the second time in the selection's 22-year history that two colors have been chosen. In 2016, soft hues of rose and blue were twinned to recognize gender fluidity. The bright yellow shade, called Illuminating, is meant to evoke the "optimistic promise of a sunshine-filled day", while Ultimate Gray is a quieter hue that speaks more of "composure, steadiness and resilience."
